President Joe Biden, in his latest phase of political expediency, makes no attempt to hide his views on abortion, often going in front of cameras to remind his pro-abortion Democratic base that he’s all for the practice.
However, Biden, and other high-profile Democrats, like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), both of whom are Catholics, have run into trouble recently with various church officials on the issue of abortion, which is strictly forbidden within Catholicism.
Bishop Michael Burbidge of Arlington, Virginia, is the latest high-ranking Catholic Church member to voice his concerns over Biden’s pro-abortion stance, making clear in a recent podcast that he believes Biden’s views on the issue, among other issues, “contradicts” his professing to be a true Catholic.
“I find it very troubling that President Biden continues to contradict the most basic teachings of the faith he professes,” Bishop Burbidge said.
He added that he thinks Biden causes “great scandal when he announces both his faith and his pro-abortion position publicly. I pray that he will change his position, repent of the scandal and the damage that is being caused.”

Burbidge was also one of a handful of high-profile bishops who joined together in banning Speaker Pelosi from taking Holy Communion given her radical, pro-abortion beliefs, which contradict the church’s teachings. Pelosi was also banned in her home district of San Fransisco by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone.
“A Catholic legislator who supports procured abortion, after knowing the teaching of the Church, commits a manifestly grave sin which is a cause of most serious scandal to others. Therefore, universal Church law provides that such persons ‘are not to be admitted to Holy Communion,'” Cordileone wrote in a letter.
The White House has yet to respond to Bishop Burbidge’s latest criticism of the president.
