Former President Donald Trump has continued to drop a steady stream of hints that he’s absolutely making a third run for the White House in 2024. Many of his current and former advisers and inner-circle people have said the same.
Knowing that a 2024 Trump run is a fairly safe bet, the former president did recently admit that there could be one possible major roadblock that would knock him out of the running, and that, the former president indicated, would be an unforeseen health problem.
Trump revealed that tidbit in a recent interview with The Washington Post, as he appears to be dead-set on making another campaign run, but acknowledged that at his age at the time of the run, one simply never knows when health-related situations can take a turn for the worse.
“You always have to talk about health. You look like you’re in good health, but tomorrow, you get a letter from a doctor saying come see me again,” Trump said during his WaPo interview. “That’s not good when they use the word ‘again.'”
Trump, who leads any other Republican nominee by a mile in the hypothetical polls, and who currently also beats both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in a hypothetical 2024 matchup, wouldn’t quite commit to a 2024 run during the interview, only strongly hinting at it as he has in the past.
“I don’t want to comment on running, but I think a lot of people are going to be very happy by my decision,” the 45th president said.
The good news is that generally speaking, aside from some lingering weight issues, Trump is reportedly still in great health, especially for a 75-year-old. The former president does have a history with dementia in his family, as the Conservative Brief noted, but Trump is predicted by doctors to be a “super-ager,” meaning someone who functions at a high level well into their 80s.
The former president is expected to make his final decision regarding a 2024 run after the November midterms wrap up this year. With Republicans expected to win by a landslide across the nation, the party could be super-energized by a Trump announcement for 2024.
It would be a wonderful feeling to have a president back in the White House who can speak in full sentences, not have to read off of note cards in press briefings, and make the best decisions for America’s future.
