It’s true that you’ll see many jokes about the perceived enemies of Bill and Hillary Clinton winding up dead because of “suicide” but, unsurprisingly, it’s usually written off as conspiracy theory.
However, according to the New York Post, Alabama news anchor Christopher Sign, who was the original reporter that broke the story about former President Bill Clinton’s secret tarmac meeting with then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch, was discovered dead over the weekend, with an initial ruling of — you guessed it — suicide.
The 45-year-old former college football player, who has been described as “passionate” about his line of work, was discovered deceased by local police on Saturday morning. Hoover Police Department Lt. Keith Czeskleba told local media outlets that Sign’s death is being investigated as a suicide at the current time.
His 2016 story regarding the secret Sky Harbor Airport tarmac meeting between Bill Clinton and Lynch quickly rocketed to the top of national headlines, primarily because it came around the same time that Hillary Clinton was being investigated in the lead-up to the presidential election regarding her use of private email servers.
It’s not a stretch to presume that Sign’s life changed after breaking such a prominent story regarding one of the most powerful political figures alive, which is further evidenced in a book he authored on the subject, titled Secret on the Tarmac.
“We have lost a revered colleague who’s indelible imprint will serve forever as a hallmark of decency, honesty and journalist integrity,” ABC 33/40 vice president and general manager Eric land said in a statement. “We can only hope to carry on his legacy. May his memory be for blessing.”
Reaction to Sign’s tragic passing quickly made rounds in the social media sphere, with many suggesting that the “suicide” ruling sounded all too familiar when it comes to the death of those who are negatively connected with the Clintons.
Christopher Sign, Birmingham TV anchor and former Alabama football player, dead in apparent suicide
Just the reporter who broke the Bill Clinton/Loretta Lynch secret tarmac meeting.
Nothing to see here. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence. https://t.co/nSLQRRXNyi

Only time will tell what medical examiners reveal with regard to the cause of Sign’s passing, but his death will undoubtedly spark a fresh wave of internet speculation on how such a young, successful person wound up dead in the prime of his life.
