Reporter: Hunter’s legal issues will be ‘deciding factor’ in Joe Biden’s 2024 decision

Hunter Biden’s legal troubles will be the “deciding factor” in whether or not his father, President Joe Biden, runs for re-election in 2024, a reporter said in an interview published Friday.

Puck News reporter Tara Palmeri’s comments came in a segment on Puck’s “The Powers That Be: Daily” podcast regarding the chances that President Biden will run again in 2024, Fox News reported.

While Biden has indicated he plans to run again, Palmeri said that the chances he actually does so are “50-50,” and that he will “wait for as long as possible” before making a decision.

“If the Democrats lose the Senate and the House, that’ll be really bad,” the reporter said. “And I could see that there would be a lot of pressure on Biden to announce that he’s not gonna run for reelection. It’s just gonna be a dark time between November, January, February. Like, real dark.”

Palmeri then brought up Hunter Biden’s legal woes.

“Plus, you’re gonna have all these investigations into Hunter Biden. There’s, you know, reports that the Justice Department is looking at indicting him. It’s just gonna be a dark time. It’s not gonna be good for his family,” she said.

According to CNN, the Justice Department was initially probing Hunter Biden’s foreign business activities during his father’s tenure as vice president.

“But investigators have examined a swath of broader conduct, including whether Hunter Biden and associates violated money laundering, campaign finance, tax and foreign lobbying laws, as well as whether Hunter Biden broke federal firearm and other regulations, multiple sources said,” the outlet added.

“As the investigation has entered its final stages, prosecutors have narrowed their focus to tax and gun-related charges, the people say.”

According to Palmeri, the results of a “brutal midterm” will be a major factor in whether or not Joe Biden runs for president — especially if Republicans win control of Congress and follow through on their pledges to investigate alleged wrongdoing by his son.

“He’s gonna be weakened. And then I think you layer in the personal stuff on top of it. And that is what will be the deciding factor,” Palmeri said.

“If it was purely political, I think Joe Biden only knows how to run. That’s all he is been doing his whole life. But I think if he sees — if he thinks that perhaps saying he’s not gonna run for reelection will get the Republicans to drop their terrifying investigation into Hunter.”

Moreover, the reporter indicated it’s difficult to see Joe Biden running if Hunter is criminally indicted by the DOJ.

“Here’s another thing: What if Hunter’s indicted? How can he run if his son is indicted?” she said.
