House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) took a jab at Vice President Kamala Harris by putting her face on a “missing children” inspired milk carton as a criticism for not visiting the southern border, according to The Washington Examiner.
Scalise held the carton at the House GOP presser this morning on Wednesday, according to the Examiner’s Emily Brooks.
“MISSING AT THE BORDER,” the milk carton said along with a photo of the vice president from one of her public appearances.
“President Biden puts Kamala Harris in charge of it, and she refuses to go down. Maybe because she doesn’t want to be associated with this disgraceful policy,” Scalise said Wednesday.
“But if she’s the vice president of the United States and the president put her in charge of this, Vice President Harris needs to go down to the border and see this for herself because maybe she would then encourage President Biden to reverse his policies that have failed.”
Harris’ policy prowess has come under intense scrutiny since being put in charge of the crisis at the southern border several weeks ago.
Biden spoke to Harris’ new position as the point person on March 24, saying that he could “think of nobody who is better qualified to do this.”
Harris said that she planned to focus her efforts on the economic growth of Central America where many of the migrants originate.
However, more than three weeks since her appointment, the vice president still hasn’t made an appearance at the border between the United States and Mexico. She has, however, been spotted in a Chicago bakery, spent Easter weekend in her California home, met with California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and traveled to Connecticut to speak with a Boys and Girls Club.
