Rep. Schiff wants Justice Thomas removed from any 1/6 cases, cites wife’s involvment

As the 1/6 House select committee continues its televised hearings in order to paint former President Donald Trump as a mastermind who incited the protests and riots that took place at the U.S. Capitol building last year, one committee member recently connected Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to the ordeal.

According to the Washington Examiner, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who sits on the committee, said during a CNN interview over the weekend that Justice Thomas should recuse himself from any future Jan. 6-related cases, of which there are predicted to be many, because of his wife’s connection to conservative activism.

Schiff made the comments on State of the Union, after being asked if he agrees with some in his party that Thomas should be removed, or even impeached.

“I think that, at a minimum, it suggests — and I think we know enough to say this already — that Justice Thomas, to avoid even the appearance of impropriety, should have nothing to do with any cases relating to Jan. 6, particularly regarding our investigation, because we want our justices to uphold a standard that goes beyond what’s lawful or unlawful to avoid even the appearance of a conflict or impropriety.”

Thomas has faced pressure from the left on the subject due to his wife’s involvement with many members of Trump’s former inner circle, specifically those who Democrats believe were somehow responsible for what happened on Jan. 6.

So far, Thomas has resisted calls to take a backseat because his wife happens to be involved in conservative activism.

Only time will tell, but it appears as if Thomas isn’t interested in buckling to the leftist hysteria over the matter.
