Poll: Trump seen as strong 2024 contender, tops Harris in hypothetical match-up

As speculation about possible contenders for the 2024 presidential race heats up, a new poll suggests that former President Donald Trump enjoys a degree of early support that even he might find surprising, and one which should — if it is ever disseminated by the media — send shockwaves among those expecting Vice President Kamala Harris to assume her party’s mantle in the next election.

The Washington Examiner reports that according to a new survey from McLaughlin & Associates, more than 75% of Republican voters want Trump to seek a return to the White House in 2024, with 83% of respondents also indicating their willingness to vote for him in the general election if he does.

According to the poll, Trump has virtually no serious competition in terms of the Republican primary contest, pulling in 57% support. Former Vice President Mike Pence came in a distant second at 10%, with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis taking 8%, and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley securing 5% support.

John and Jim McLaughlin, the pair of brothers behind the poll, noted that Trump appears to be gaining support as time goes on, saying, according to the Examiner, “All the relentless attacks against President Trump have backfired and will continue to backfire.”The duo continued, stating, “The voters want results, but not the kind they are getting from [President Joe] Biden and Harris.”

Also of interest in the poll results is the fact that 51% of Biden stalwarts do not believe he will finish out the current term and expect that Harris will be in the Oval Office at the time of the next presidential election, making her the likely choice to carry the Democrats’ banner into 2024 cycle.

Should that prediction prove true, Trump’s prospects remain strong, with the McLaughlin survey revealing that as of now, the former president wins in a head-to-head match-up with Harris by a margin of 49% to 45%.

Though Trump has yet to formally declare whether he plans another run for the White House, he has been dropping hints about his intentions. During a recent discussion with conservative commentator Candace Owens, the former president indicated that his supporters are likely to “be very, very happy when [he makes] a certain announcement,” as The Hill noted.

Adding even more grist for the rumor mill about his future plans, Trump revealed earlier this month that he plans to hold no fewer than three of his large, rally-style events over summer, something sure to further energize the MAGA base that seems to be clamoring for his return to the political arena.

Regardless of how, when, or where Trump lets the American public in on his vision for the next few years, these recent poll results certainly give Vice President Harris and her fellow Democrats something to think about as they continue to foist their radical, costly, and woke agenda on an increasingly unwilling electorate.

  4. Well since Camel Toe Harris is NOT a Natural born Citizen, She is an ANCHOR Baby, “Neither one of her parents were US Citizens when she was Born in CA.” Her Mother Never did become a US Citizen as she moved to Canada shortly after CamelToe was Born. She CANNOT EVER be President of the USA. Read the Constitution Article II, Section 5 ( NO person except a NATURAL born Citizen or a Citizen of the Uni8ted States at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution shall be Eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of 35 years and been 14 years at Resident within the United States .

Supreme Courts definition of being A Natural Born Citizen

The rule, to determine whether one is a natural born citizen, is what is the allegiance of the parents of the child in question. The child always follows the allegiance of the father. Its been that way since the beginning of time. As a rule Monarchies rely on Jus Soli for taxation purposes and Modern Democracies rely on both Jus Soli and Jus Sanguinis, soil and blood. Here is John Jays letter to G. Washington explaining the need to prevent the influence of foreigners (allegiance) into the Government. Link

In Book I, Chapter 19, § 212, of the English translation of 1797 (p. 110) Vattel describes what is meant by the term Natural Born Citizen: The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens.

According to the U.S. Constitution, the vice president has to be a natural-born citizen, to have resided in a U.S. state or territory for 14 years, and to be at least 35 years old. The constitutional qualifications for vice president are the same as they are for the presidency.

Candidates for vice president cannot run with a presidential candidate from the same state. Candidates for the vice presidency must be willing to take over the duties of the president if he is incapacitated, removed from office, or otherwise unable to meet the obligations of his office. If the vice president takes over presidential duties temporarily, he is not required to be sworn into office as president. If the vice president takes over presidential duties permanently, he must be sworn in as president, and another vice president is chosen. In the event that a vice president becomes president or is removed from office, another vice-presidential candidate can be nominated by the president and appointed to office once approved by a majority vote in both houses of Congress. Originally, the vice president was required to be elected by the people separately from the president. At first, the vice presidency was awarded to the person who received the second most votes for president. The law was changed in 1804 to allow the people to cast separate votes for the president and vice president, encouraging political parties to run candidates as teams.

  5. OK, I’ll be first. I’m a Republican and a strong Trump supporter. That said, I was totally taken aback when Biden and Harris actually “won” the election, and it was the first time in my long voting history in this country that I suspected collusion of some sort, given that both of them are pretty unlikeable – to say nothing of the fact that Slow Old Joe is barely able to make his way to the men’s room. And so I rationalized that by thinking that a lot of people just don’t like Donald Trump, for reasons all of which have been stated many times (and not the least of which is that lots of people just don’t like others who have a lot of money.) And yes, a “radical, costly and woke agenda” is exactly what voters should expect from the Democrats – that’s what they’re famous for, after all.
