Pelosi finally drops House mask mandate, Republicans claim victory

After it was announced recently by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that those who were fully vaccinated from COVID-19 no longer had to don face masks, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) decided to reverse the party’s “follow the science” mantra and, instead, required the continued wearing of masks for House members.

Her bizarre defiance of the CDC’s guidance, which many believe was a case of hysterical virtue signaling, sparked a number of Republicans to protest the rule by not masking up and risking fines in the process. But according to the Washington Examiner, Pelosi must be especially upset this week as Congress’s physician gave vaccinated House members the all-clear to ditch the mask.

Pelosi faced intense criticism for not following the science, as both the Senate and the White House abided by the CDC’s updated guidance when it was announced last month.

The Speaker attempted to justify her reasoning for keeping the mask mandate in place, claiming that the decision was made because of how many Republican members she believed were not vaccinated, though it was virtually impossible to know that number, as members of Congress, like any American citizens, are entitled to privacy concerning medical history.

Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), was among a group of Republicans who protested Pelosi’s overbearing mask rules, as he and others ditched the masks long ago at the risk of racking up hefty fines. On Friday, the Florida Republican celebrated via Twitter.

There now exists new guidance for House members who might not be vaccinated, which says a “failure to wear a mask in the Hall of the House when required, unless under recognition, may be subject to fines imposed for violation.”

However, it’s unlikely that any new fines will be issued, given that Pelosi or anyone else in Congress can ask whether or not a House member has been vaccinated.

It seems as though America is finally moving in the direction of ditching the masks, which many challenged along the way, citing science that suggested simple face coverings didn’t offer the level of protection that was sold by the fearmongering mainstream media to the American public. Even Dr. Anthony Fauci admitted early on that “drugstore masks” were not effective.
