Alexander Burns and Jonathan Martin of The New York Times are making non-stop headlines over various excerpts from their new book, This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future.
According to Fox News, the latest spicy tidbit to leak from the upcoming book suggested that there has been increased tension between former President Barack Obama and President Joe Biden, and oddly enough, an assertion that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) believes Obama is “jealous” of his predecessor.
If you ask President Biden, one would have the impression that President Obama is nothing less than his best friend, having worked together in the White House. But according to the new book, set to be released next Tuesday, the relationship between the two men was not exactly what Biden wants everyone to believe.
The authors described their relationship as “hardly the stuff of the tight brotherhood both men had sold to the country as a cheery political fable,” and added that at the beginning of Biden’s presidency, the two only spoke “occasionally.”
Obama has been largely silent from Biden’s presidency, aside from a few speaking gigs and one appearance at the White House to promote the Affordable Care Act (ACA.) Even then, Obama looked somewhat uncomfortable and embarrassed around Biden, who’s polling embarrassingly low, consistently.
“Nancy Pelosi, who spoke regularly with the former president, came away from her conversations with Obama during this period with a matter-of-fact diagnosis. She told a friend: ‘Obama is jealous of Biden,’” the book reveals.
Of course, the question is why would Obama ever be jealous of Biden, and the book reveals that Pelosi, in her expert analysis, said “I am confident that Barack is not happy with the coverage of this administration as more transformative than his.”
Most believe that’s just an indication of how cognitively challenged the House speaker is at the moment, as even conservatives will quickly admit that Obama was a monumentally more effective and popular president than Biden could ever hope to be.
With the book set to release soon, there’s no telling what else might come out of it.
