The details surrounding the alleged drunk driving incident by Paul Pelosi, husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), are still somewhat mysterious, but will likely become available in the coming weeks as the situation took a massive turn last week.
According to Fox News, Pelosi, who was allegedly involved in a much more serious car accident than previously reported, was formally charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) by the Napa County District Attorney’s Office for his May 28 drunk-driving crash.
The DA’s office released a press statement that provided additional details of the night Pelosi was arrested and the subsequent charge, although critics are still crying foul as Pelosi was only charged with a misdemeanor, while legal experts contend that anyone else would have been charged with a felony DUI because of the car wreck.
According to the DA’s office, Pelosi could face “up to five years of probation, a minimum of five days in jail, installation of an ignition interlock device, fines and fees, completion of a court ordered drinking driver class, and other terms as appropriate.”

Many believe that given his ultra-privilege of being the husband of an elite, powerful Democrat, and given his vast wealth and resources to hire the best possible legal representation, he’ll likely exit the debacle with nothing more than a light tap on the wrist and a few fines.
Others have accused the California Highway Patrol of stepping in to cover for Pelosi, with specific regard to any dashcam or bodycam video that was taken on the evening of his accident.
Amanda Ray is head of California’s Highway Patrol. She’s protecting Paul Pelosi by not releasing video and shots from his DUI arrest. Because he’s rich. Because he’s married to the worst woman in the world. The public wants to know if he was alone. Not too complicated, so do it. pic.twitter.com/iPIljTNYno

Only time will tell if America ever gets the full story, but given the ramifications, especially if it was particularly bad, it might stay buried for years to come.
