Kamala Harris made waves this October by casting doubt on the efficacy of the Trump vaccine. Now, in an abrupt reversal, she’s gone from anti-vax to true believer – and she’s hoping you won’t notice her hypocrisy.
The Hill reports:
“Vice President-elect Kamala Harris received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday, becoming the latest high-level official to do so on camera in order to instill public trust.
“It is relatively painless. It happens really quickly. It is safe,” Harris, wearing a black face mask, said in brief remarks after receiving the vaccine, encouraging Americans to get it.
“Literally, this is about saving lives,” she continued. “I trust the scientists, and it is the scientists who created and approved this vaccine.”
That’s a far cry from what Harris was saying pre-election.
Back in October, Harris attacked the very same vaccines, then in trials, in an effort to score points against President Trump’s Operation Warp Speed. “If Donald Trump tells us to take it, I’m not taking it,” she said.
The Federalist noted at the time that: “Harris has cast doubt over a potential vaccine in the past. When asked by CNN in September whether she’d subject herself to the vaccine, Harris said, ‘I will say that I would not trust Donald Trump.'”
Of course, the vaccine that Harris refused to consider this fall is the same one that she took today. The vaccine hasn’t changed – only the political optics have.
