Kamala Harris is handed unsolvable problem at border

Earlier this week, as the crisis at the southern U.S. border continued to escalate and pressure on President Joe Biden’s administration increased to unprecedented levels, the president put the onus of fixing the issue on Vice President Kamala Harris by appointing her the White House’s immigration crisis czar.

According to Fox News, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz highlighted what that means for the vice president, saying that he believes Biden understands that the crisis is beyond fixing and essentially needed someone to throw under the bus when it all comes crashing down, so he passed the burden to Harris, who has very limited options of what she can do, given the campaign promises she made to America.

Cruz began the interview by explaining that he thinks Biden isn’t necessarily a big fan of Harris, citing evidence that passing the buck on the border crisis to her is a clear sign of that dislike and knowing full well that she can’t solve the crisis on her own.

The two ran on the idea that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were evil and that America’s borders should be open to everyone. Add in Biden’s rapid rollback of a number of policies put in place by former President Donald Trump, and the crisis quickly took a turn for the worse within days of Biden assuming the White House.

“Kamala Harris doesn’t have anything to do other than go down there and let everybody go. I mean, that’s the only option that is consistent with the political promises she’s made, and I’ll tell you, representing the state of Texas, we are seeing illegal immigrants being released in Harlingen, Texas,” Cruz said.

Cruz went on to suggest that not only is the massive influx of illegal immigrants coming across the border a national security threat, but there will also be ramifications for the American public as the rates of COVID-19 infection in the migrant population is off the charts.

“The illegal immigrants they’re releasing are testing positive for COVID-19 at a seven times higher rate than the U.S. population. It is a humanitarian crisis. It’s a public health crisis, and it’s a national security crisis,” Cruz said.

According to CBS News, Cruz and some of his colleagues took a trip to the southern border to get a read on what’s happening on the ground. The Republican delegation reported everything from witnessing overpacked facilities and there was even an account of seeing a dead body floating in the Rio Grande river.

Only time will tell how Harris chooses to tackle the issue, if she even does. But it’s clear to many that Biden is playing dirty politics by handing the biggest crisis facing his administration to his sidekick and wiping his hands clean of it.
