A bombshell report on Vice President Kamala Harris’ staff has reported the nation’s second in command has created a work environment that is “not healthy” for her staffers according to Politico.
The publication stated that reports from staffers indicated Harris’s team is suffering from “low morale, porous lines of communication and diminished trust among aides and senior officials.”
Issues with the vice-presidential staff could be centrally looted, however, with some staffers indicating that much of their frustration is with Harris’ chief of staff, Tina Flournoy.
Flournoy is known in Democratic politics and has a reputation that won her the White House chief of staff position for the VP earlier this year.
Politico reputedly interviewed 22 staffers, vice presidential aides, administration officials and associates of Harris and Biden, and they described a “tense and at times douroffice atmosphere.”
Some were less derogatory, however, speaking well of Harris while throwing Flournoy under the bus in what Politico identified as an apparent effort to protect the Vice President.
The more positive staffers insist that Flournoy has “created an insular environment where ideas are ignored or met with harsh dismissals and decisions are dragged out. Often, they said, she refuses to take responsibility for delicate issues and blames staffers for the negative results that ensue.
It all starts at the top,” said one of the administration officials, who like others requested anonymity in order to give a free opinion about the politically charged issue without fearing repercussions.
“People are thrown under the bus from the very top, there are short fuses and it’s an abusive environment,” said another person with direct knowledge of how Harris’ office is run. “It’s not a healthy environment and people often feel mistreated. It’s not a place where people feel supported but a place where people feel treated like s—.”
