Having courted intense criticism in recent weeks for effectively being missing in action with regard to the series of controversies engulfing the Biden administration, Vice President Kamala Harris made the baffling decision to take a mysterious trip to California on Friday and bar reporters from covering her departure, as Fox News reported.
The outlet cited a Washington Times story revealing that Harris left for Southern California at the start of the weekend, but that the White House offered no explanation of the purpose of the journey.
Harris left the capital Friday afternoon via Joint Base Andrews in Maryland and headed to Palm Springs, with a return to D.C. scheduled for Saturday, according to the Times.
According to Palm Springs NBC affiliate KESQ, Harris’ accommodations for the night she spent in the area were never officially confirmed by the White House, but the outlet did note that a significant police presence was observed at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa during the relevant time period.

Strangely, press reporters were not allowed to attend Harris’ departure from Maryland, there were no public events added to the vice president’s schedule during her stay in California, and no state or local Democrats publicized any planned meetings with Joe Biden’s second in command, the Times added.
The only outward sign of any official acknowledgment of Harris’ time in the area was a tweet from Palm Springs Mayor Christy Gilbert Holstege that welcomed the vice president to the locale, but did not drop so much as a hint as to the reason for her trip.
Harris’ nebulous travels come at a time when she faces continued scrutiny over her noteworthy silence and seeming inaction on pressing administration matters including the crisis at the southern border and the disastrous withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan.
Though there may have been a perfectly reasonable explanation for the cryptic travel to California, the lack of transparency surrounding this trip only lends additional credence to the notion – as expressed by the Washington Examiner’s Tiana Lowe – that Harris really is the “most useless” vice president in the last 100 years.
