After a driver mowed down dozens of people, killing at least five, during a Waukesha, Wisconsin Christmas parade, a number of Democrats made disgusting remarks about the tragedy on social media, with many linking the tragedy as some form of payback for the not guilty verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse case.
One of those offenders was Mary Lemanski, who until Monday morning, was a social media director for the Democratic Party of DuPage County, Illinois. Among several nasty statements Lemanski made, she called the Christmas parade tragedy “karma” for the Rittenhouse outcome, and as a result, abruptly resigned from her position, Fox News reports.
The DuPage Democrats’ official Twitter account rebuked their former employee in a Monday post, strongly condemning her actions and blatant mockery of the situation.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragedy in Waukesha. We are aware of statements made by a former member of our organization and find them to be incredibly insensitive and not in alignment of who we are as an organization. Our organization does not support hate in any form,” the organization wrote.
Lemanski’s first obscene Twitter post after the horrific events in Waukesha was a clear attempt to link the tragedy with the Rittenhouse verdict, as she wrote of the driver involved, “It was probably just self-defense. #Wisconsin #KyleRittenhouse.”
“The blood of Kyle Rittenhouse’s victims is on the hands of Wisconsin citizens,” Lemanski wrote in another post, adding, “even the children.”
In yet another asinine post, Lemanski wrote, “I’m sad. I’m sad anytime anyone dies. I just believe in Karma and this came around quick on the citizens of Wisconsin.”
She would later attempt to defend herself by citing her First Amendment rights, but admitted after she resigned that her remarks were in “poor taste,” though after everything she wrote, it was obviously far too late for apologies.
According to ABC News, the man who plowed through the Christmas parade crowd in his SUV has been charged with five counts of homicide. Additionally, as of this writing, some 62 parade attendees were injured in the horrific attack.
