Gov Abbott announced Texas will start ‘arresting everybody’ to assist with border crisis

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) announced on Wednesday that the Lone Star State will start arresting illegal border crossers as a way to stem the flow of unknown aliens into the United States.

Abbott made his comments while speaking to Fox News’s Sean Hannity on Wednesday where he discussed the border crisis and how he feels the Biden administration is failing the American people.

The Texas Republican said that local authorities are going to start “arresting everybody” who enters the United States illegally as a way of intercepting those that Customs and Border Protection are unable to stop.

“I don’t think this has ever happened before. We’re about to change the way Texas addresses the challenges on the border. We’re going to start increasing arrests,” said Abbott.

“I’m being very clear. The law that I’m going to be used will be legal ways where Texas is going to start arresting everybody coming across the border. They’re going to be spending half a year in jail,” he added.

Abbott didn’t pull any punches talking about the Biden administration. During an interview with Newsmax on the same issue saying that “they are completely ignoring the crisis at the border.

“I’m having to step up and do the federal government’s job,” Abbott said, insisting that the Texas government would put an end to illegal immigration as far as it was in their power.

“I’ve already deployed more than 1000 department of public safety officers along with the national guard but we’re going to ratchet up our efforts along the border to make sure help ensure our state and our country,” Abbot said.

Conservatives have been pushing for stricter border security for years, something that the Trump administration put at the forefront of their agenda. President Joe Biden, however, has taken a much more lenient tone, leading to record-breaking border crossings from Mexico to the United States.
