GOP Senate makes it a felony to give hormone blockers to minors

As things in DC spiral out of control, the only signs of sanity we’re seeing are in red states.

One standout is Alabama, where the GOP-controlled State Senate just passed a bill making it a felony for doctors to give hormone blockers to minors.

The Washington Examiner reports:

The Alabama state Senate voted Tuesday to make it a felony for medical professionals to treat minors with hormone therapy or sex change surgery.

The bill, sponsored by Republican state Sen. Shay Shelnutt and dubbed the Vulnerable Child Compassion and Protection Act, passed through the chamber by a margin of 23-4, according to CBS News.

The bill would result in criminal felony charges for any medical professional who treats transgender minors under the age of 19 with “gender-affirming care” and would come with the punishment of up to 10 years in prison or a $15,000 fine.

What the left is describing as “gender-affirming care” is really irreversible in some cases, making it unwise for immature individuals to receive.

Alabama’s senators are doing the right thing, but you can be sure that they’ll be attacked in the press for it.

On a related note, here’s the heartbreaking story of a high school runner who was victimized by the same ideology that wants to give life-altering hormones to teens.
