DeSantis on Disney losing special tax status: ‘Additional legislative action’ coming

In the wake of woke Walt Disney World’s special self-governing district being nuked by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the state’s Republican Party, the governor indicated that the bloodbath for Disney isn’t quite over just yet.

As CNN noted, DeSantis indicated this week during a town hall-style interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham that “additional legislative action” is already in the works, which he said aims to protect his state from any tax income fallout after nixing the theme park’s ultra-unique and unheard-of special, self-governing district that it has enjoyed since 1967.

“There’s going to be additional legislative action,” DeSantis told Ingraham. “We’ve contemplated that. We know what we’re going to do, so stay tuned. That’ll all be apparent.”

“Disney will pay its debts. Disney will, for the first time, actually live under the same laws as everybody else in Florida. Imagine that,” DeSantis said, when asked if rumors of the dissolving of the special district would backfire on nearby residents.

The Florida governor went on to describe the law that will dissolve the park’s special status, known as Reedy Creek, as “the first step in what’s going to be a process to make sure that Disney should not run its own government.”

The move to take action against Disney came after a number of top-level executives that run the company publicly opposed DeSantis’ Parental Rights in Education Bill, falsely mislabeled by critics — including the dishonest mainstream media — as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

While many corporations have capitalized on going ultra “woke,” Disney is one of the first to face severe consequences for taking that path. That’s not even to mention the hit that the company will likely take as thousands — maybe more — of conservative parents replan their summer vacations to avoid Disney, where they ultimately would have spent a ton of disposable income.

Taking action against woke progressive Disney was an important step in teaching major corporations that the new slogan rings truer than ever before: “Go woke, go broke.”
