Demaryius Thomas, former standout wide receiver for the Denver Broncos, dead at 33

The sporting world was left utterly flabbergasted last week as reports emerged of the death of a young and healthy former NFL star who had a tremendously positive impact on the lives of many.

According to ESPN, former Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas was found deceased in his Georgia home last Thursday evening. While the official cause of death remains unclear as of this writing, authorities strongly believe his untimely death was related to a possible medical issue.

That claim was bolstered by Thomas’ first cousin, LaTonya Bonseigneur, who said she believes his cause of death was related to a possible seizure.

“He had been suffering from seizures for over a year, and we believe he had a seizure when he was showering,” Bonseigneur said. “We’re not sure when he died. We just spoke with him yesterday.”

Thomas’ former team, which he helped take to a Super Bowl victory in 2015, released a statement following the news of the young former NFL star’s death.

“We are devastated and completely heartbroken by the sudden, tragic passing of Demaryius Thomas,” the statement read.

It added: “D.T. was beloved by our entire organization, his teammates and coaches, and our fans. Recently retiring as a Bronco, we were very much looking forward to celebrating Demaryius for years to come as one of the greatest players in franchise history.”

Not surprisingly, an outpouring of sympathy and condolences for Thomas’ family came in through social media over the weekend, which only reaffirmed that Thomas was widely loved throughout the entire NFL, and in the sporting world in general.
