Carlson suggests Colbert’s team spend a year in solitary confinement after Capitol break-in

A seven-member production team from Stephen Colbert’s Late Show was recently arrested at the U.S. Capitol building for trespassing around the premises long after their invited stay was over, causing immediate criticism from many on the right.

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson was especially pointed in his criticism of the left-leaning late-night host, and came up with a brilliant plan as to what should happen to those who were arrested, which included imprisonment.

“We learned that last night producers for Stephen Colbert’s show on CBS committed insurrection at the United States Capitol,” Carlson began. “The point of them being there was to harass sitting members of Congress — Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert.”

Carlson, referencing the unconstitutional treatment of many of those who were arrested on Jan. 6, including those still being held 1.5 years later, many of them in solitary confinement, said that Colbert’s people should probably receive the same level of punishment, given the crimes were virtually the same.

“Stephen Colbert’s producers just committed insurrection at the US Capitol,” Carlson tweeted, adding that they, too, were charged with “unlawful entry” by Capitol Police.

He added: “That’s the exact same charge that many January 6 defendants face,” he said. “We’ll just get right to it: It’s likely that some members of Stephen Colbert’s team will be held in solitary confinement for a year and a half without being charged. Why? Because this is an insurrection.”

Of course, Carlson was deploying extreme sarcasm, pointing out that Colbert’s team spent a single night in jail and were released the next day, with little to be said of the situation by a vast majority of the mainstream media.

“Joking aside, how could they not be held for a year and a half in solitary confinement without being charged?” Carlson continued. “Because the precedent is in place. And how in the world can Adam Schiff, again, who spent the last year and a half eliminating the civil liberties of Trump voters on the basis of January 6, do the exact same thing and not face punishment?”
