Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) believes President Joe Biden “should fire John Kerry” if the allegations about him leaking information turn out to be true, according to Breitbart News.
Kerry, who served as the former U.S. Secretary of State and Biden Climate Czar, made headlines when it was reported that he leaked information about undercover Israeli military operations to Iran.
Cruz’s recommendation was made on Tuesday during an appearance on the Mark Davis Show, where he responded to the accusation that Kerry leaked information from an ally to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif
“These allegations are deeply concerning, Iran’s foreign minister on tape alleged that Kerry told him that Israel carried out over 200 military strikes on Iranian forces in Syria,” Cruz said, calling Kerry’s actions “utterly disqualifying,” if true.
“If that is true, it is criminal. It is disclosing serious, sensitive, classified information about one of America’s closest allies, the nation of Israel” to a “dangerous enemy of America and enemy of Israel. The caveat, if it’s true, is important,” he added. “We don’t know if that is, in fact, true,” Cruz emphasized, going on to say that Kerry denied the allegation.
“I think there needs to be a serious investigation,” Cruz said. “He is one of the most anti-Israel figures in the Biden administration,” Cruz said noting that he has called for Kerry’s resignation before because of his previous “damaging comment” about Israel.
“If it’s true, if he leaked classified information — damaging to Israel, damaging to America — to our enemy, absolutely he should quit, or if Joe Biden were a real leader, he should fire him,” Cruz said. “But we need to find out if it’s true first.”
Cruz isn’t the only Republican calling for Kerry’s dismissal or investigation. Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK), Sen Rick Scott (R-FL), and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) have also weighed in, sharing their frustration.
