President Joe Biden forgot to practice what he preaches on Thursday when he failed to put on his mask while on camera at an Oval Office event on Thursday.
Breitbart News reported that the president arrived for the bill signing wearing a mask, but removed it to sign the bill and make some remarks.
After his comments, Biden stood up to leave and put his mask along with a notecard in his suit pocket. He then smiled at his Vice President Kamala Harris and walked from the room.
Biden’s most recent faux pas comes after weeks of beratement by Democrats for Americans to continue wearing masks, even if their state doesn’t require it.
The Commander-in-Chief called Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott’s decision to rescind the state’s mask mandate “a big mistake” and “neanderthal thinking,” according to KHOU.
Biden did, however, remember to wear his mask while criticizing the Republican governor:
“I hope everyone realizes by now that these masks make a difference,” Biden said while wearing a cloth face mask at the White House.
“We are on the cusp of being able to fundamentally change the nature of this disease because of the way we are able to get vaccines in people’s arms. The last thing, the last thing we need, is Neanderthal thinking that in the meantime everything is fine, take off your mask and forget it. It still matters.”
However, Biden has made the same mistake of offhandedly not wearing his mask multiple times. Breitbart reported that the president made the same mistake on Monday when he walked away from prepared remarks without his mask, and in February Harris had to remind him to get his mask after leaving it on a podium.
