President Joe Biden faces yet another monumental, make-or-break foreign policy situation as reports indicate that Russia could launch an invasion into Ukraine at virtually any moment.
According to the Daily Mail, after news broke on Monday that the president authorized a contingency of some 8,500 U.S. troops to be assigned to NATO forces that would be deployed all over Eastern Europe in the event of an invasion, the president revealed that he had “total unanimity” with European leaders after a meeting on Monday.
The president, who’s still fresh off his failed Afghanistan U.S. troop withdrawal last summer, made it sound as if everything is going to be perfectly fine, though many wonder how much of that confidence is being feigned for the sake of political appearance.
“I had a very, very, very good meeting. Total unanimity with all the European leaders. We’ll talk about it later,” is all the U.S. president offered up to waiting reporters who met Biden after a Cabinet meeting regarding the inflation crisis.
Included in the roughly 90-minute phone call were leaders from the European Union, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and the United Kingdom. The call was closed off to the press, but the White House didn’t let the moment escape a juicy public relations photo op.

In a later readout of the phone conference, the White House said the world leaders discussed “their joint efforts to deter further Russian aggression against Ukraine, including preparations to impose massive consequences and severe economic costs on Russia for such actions as well as to reinforce security on NATO’s eastern flank.”
All of the countries on the call reportedly agreed that Russia would experience severe consequences should it move forward with an invasion of any size.
Only time will tell what Vladimir Putin has up his sleeve, but one can safely bet that it likely doesn’t take much for him to stay several steps ahead of President Biden at any given time, which is absolutely terrifying for the entire world.
