AOC and Ilhan Omar coordinated Supreme Court protest with Soros-funded group

Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and the 15 other Democratic lawmakers who were detained outside the Supreme Court on Tuesday worked together with a liberal dark money group backed by billionaire George Soros to stage the arrest, according to a report by The Washington Examiner.

Ocasio-Cortez said in an Instagram post on Tuesday that the entire purpose of the hoax was to get her jailed. She claimed that the Center for Popular Democracy Action Fund’s organizers had requested that she and her coworkers “present themselves for arrest in front of the Supreme Court.”

The New York lawmaker said that their actions were “quite different than a PR stunt” in the blog post. A film crew from the dark money group would be on the scene live broadcasting the event, Omar’s spokesman Jeremy Slevin tweeted around 30 minutes before the MPs took to the streets.

“Members of Congress, including [Omar] will be participating in a civil disobedience at the Supreme Court, potentially including arrests, shortly,” Slevin tweeted before the lawmakers began illegally obstructing the street outside the Supreme Court. “@CPDAction is live streaming it. Follow along!”

The Washington Post reported in 2018 that Andrew Friedman, the co-executive director of CPD Action, revealed that Soros’ Open Society Foundations donate over $1 million annually to the organization and its sister organization, the Center for Popular Democracy.

Since it is a 501(c)(4) charitable organization, CPD Action is exempt from disclosure laws.

According to CPD Action, its leaders were among the 18 non-Congresspeople detained on Tuesday along with Ocasio-Cortez and the other Democratic politicians.

“Moments ago, leaders from CPD Action network organizations, members of Congress & more participated in a powerful civil disobedience demonstration & got arrested to protect our RIGHT to SAFE & LEGAL abortions,” the dark money group posted on Facebook Tuesday afternoon.

“This is a clear message to SCOTUS and lawmakers that #WeWontBackDown until ALL pregnancy-abled people are treated as full human beings with the autonomy to make decisions about OUR OWN bodies,” the group added.
