Alec Baldwin seen shopping in Vermont amid probe of film set shooting death

Amid an ongoing investigation of the deadly shooting of a cinematographer on the New Mexico set of a film for which he was serving as executive producer, actor Alec Baldwin was photographed out and about in a small Vermont town this week, as Fox News reports.

A week after Halyna Hutchins was killed during the filming of a scene for the movie Rust, Baldwin was spotted doing a bit of shopping at the Polo by Ralph Lauren outlet at Manchester Center, according to the New York Post.

Sporting a flannel shirt, preppy loafers, and a COVID-19 mitigation mask, the newly-shaven Baldwin was apparently enjoying the chauffeur services of wife Hilaria, who was behind the wheel of a large SUV.

It is thought that Baldwin has remained in New England since at least Monday, when eagle-eyed locals noticed him at a local eatery picking up a large carry-out order, as Fox News noted.

The probe of the deadly shooting on Baldwin’s film set continues apace, and earlier this week, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza declared discussion of the likelihood of criminal charges in the matter premature, while local district attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said that nobody has been ruled out in terms of potential liability in the case.

Also this week, Baldwin tweeted a news article in which suspicion of responsibility for the tragic occurrence was directed toward Rust assistant director Dave Halls, who reportedly admitted to authorities that he should have verified the contents of the prop gun prior to handing it over to the actor, as the Post added.

Finger pointing among members of the film’s crew has not abated in recent days, with the production’s chief electrician stating that an overarching sense of “negligence and unprofessionalism” was to blame for the death of Hutchins and injuries to director Joel Souza.

Gaffer Serge Svetnoy railed in a social media post that there was “negligence from the person who was supposed to check the weapon on the site…the person who had to announce that the loaded gun was on the site…the person who should have checked the weapon before bringing it to set,” comments read by many to place the blame on 24-year-old head armorer on the set, Hannah Gutierrez.

For his part, Baldwin released a statement last week indicating that he was “fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred,” but whether the actor, comedian, and longtime liberal will be held criminally accountable in this sad case is something that remains to be seen.
