Administration border policies allowing influx of human traffickers, child molesters, rapists

President Joe Biden and his media cheerleaders have been celebrating the so-called achievements of his first 100 days in office, but as one prominent commentator points out, when it comes to the situation at the border, a rather more honest assessment is required.

According to the Washington Examiner’s Eddie Scarry, reversals of Trump-era immigration policy and the open borders signals being communicated by Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are directly resulting in the arrival of rapists, child molesters, and human traffickers in frightening numbers.

Scarry catalogued some of the more disturbing updates he has received from U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents in recent days, and the details are harrowing, indeed. On April 27, officials in Texas encountered an adult male who was subsequently discovered to be that of a Salvadoran national with a prior sexual assault conviction in Texas, with the victim in that case having been a 15-year-old girl.

The day before that, a traffic stop in the Lone Star State led to the apprehension of a trio of migrants, and a search of the vehicle driver’s home uncovered the presence of another 38 individuals in the country illegally – a fact which led to a human smuggling charged being lodged against him.

Not surprisingly, the parade of horribles does not stop there. On April 23, 11 migrants were taken into custody in the vicinity of Penitas, Texas, and one of those apprehended was found to be a Salvadoran national with a prior child molestation conviction.

The veritable welcome mat extended by the Biden administration to all comers, regardless of their criminal status, was put into stark relief during a live interview with Texas rancher John Sewell on Fox News last week. As host Dana Perino attempted to discuss the president’s failure to discuss a plan for the border during his address to a joint session of Congress, the exchange was interrupted by federal agents in mid-pursuit of migrants on his land, as the Daily Mail noted.

Sewell lamented the ongoing chaos on his property, noting that migrants routinely come onto his land at night and saying about the current influx, “This is not panning out good for us. We’re under siege here. And when I say that, I’ve already got three this morning before breakfast.”

“These people, it seems like they have more rights than we do. It’s very unfortunate that we’re having to battle this and the CBP is telling us that all they do is enforce policy,” Sewell stated, adding that he has never seen the situation reach the present level of severity.

As Scarry validly asserts, while it is certainly true that criminals of the most reprehensible sort succeeded in entering the country during the Trump administration and every other that preceded it, the Biden-Harris approach of removing obstacles and extending an open invitation is making an already regrettable situation that much worse.
