58% of Americans believe media is ‘enemy of the people,’ poll reveals

A bulk of the establishment, mainstream media showed its true colors during the four years former President Donald Trump held the White House. Thanks mostly to the former president, though, the mainstream media’s agenda was clearly exposed, which is becoming more evident as polls reveal what many Americans think about the media today.

According to the Washington Examiner, a recent Rasmussen Reports survey revealed that a majority of Americans — at 58% — feel at least “somewhat” that the mainstream media is “truly the enemy of the people,” with many signaling that the media can no longer be trusted.

When examined from a partisan viewpoint, 58% of Republicans do not “trust” the mainstream media. Democrats, at 56%, signaled that the “trust” the media.

The former president, a master of effectively working the media, quickly exposed their agenda early on in his presidency. Thanks to Trump, “fake news” has a much deeper and genuine meaning, as many outlets employed “fake news” tactics when covering the former president.

The Rasmussen survey revealed that a whopping 92% of Republican voters feel as though “fake news” being spouted by most of the media is a problem. Surprisingly, 74% of Democrats felt the same way.

Taking partisanship out of the equation, 83% of respondents indicated that “fake news” remains a serious problem.

Though Trump seemed as if he was the number one enemy of the media, it’s not a stretch to presume that the corporate media complex misses him dearly, as the media, overall, has taken a massive ratings dive since he exited the White House earlier this year.

According to USA Today, while Fox News enjoys being buoyed by primetime anchors Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity, all three major media networks, including Fox, CNN, and MSNBC, have experienced noticeable decline in ratings from the same period last year. All networks are down at least 30%, with CNN taking the biggest hit at a 45% drop.

While they claim to loathe him and his policies, at the end of the day, it’s not unreasonable to think that at least from a business perspective, there are plenty of leftist journalists at CNN and MSNBC who secretly relish the idea of Trump winning a second term in 2024.
