It’s social control, no more, no less.
Fun fact: 99.5% of "masks" worn by the public are either useless face coverings, surgical masks that were designed for blood splash protection and not airborne virus protection, or are so ill-fitting as to be certified as basically useless. Only marginal use is for symptomatics.
